What is a Kinetic Log Splitter? How does this log splitter work?

What is a Kinetic Log Splitter?

Now, the log splitter you normally see on the markets are hydraulic log splitter, they use a hydraulic pump to pump oil into a hydraulic cylinder, it slowly pushes the splitting ram to split logs, it works but very slow.

You may also heard about another type of log splitter, the Kinetic Log Splitter, and wonder what exactly is that. Well, here is how it works:

The motor is connected to two flywheels (balance on each side) with a belt, and when you start the motor, it will spin the flywheel and store kinetic energy in the spinning flywheels. When you pull the handle, it will engage the rack and pinion system, which works as a clutch, and the energy is released to the ram, and the ram shoots out at high speed, splitting the logs with great speed and force. The average cycle time is only about 2.3 second.

What is the advantages of this log splitter?

The most appealing and obvious part: the kinetic log splitter is much, MUCH Faster than the hydraulic ones, generally 6 times faster. You no longer need to sit around and wait for the hydraulic ram to go out and back slowly. Now you just put the log on the splitter, pull the handle, BAM!, before you can put another one on, the ram returns already and ready for the next split, save your valuable time.

There are other hidden benefits of this kinetic log splitter:

1. The maintenance required is minimum, just keep the log splitter clean and lubricate the gears will grant you years of use. No oil leak or pump issues.

2. If you have a really tough piece that cannot be split in the first attempt, you are more likely to split it on a kinetic log splitter, as the kinetic log splitter uses a thrust to crush the logs, while the hydraulic log splitter can only generate a steady force. Therefore, the kinetic log splitter can always "outsplit" the same level hydraulic log splitter.

Why you should choose a Forestwest Kinetic Log Splitter?

The Forestwest kinetic log splitters were designed together with an American company and manufactured in our factory since 2007. We have been supplying the US market since then. And we were also the First company to bring a full range of kinetic log splitters to Australia, ranging from 7ton to 34ton models. And after coming to Australia, we improved the quality of our log splitters, including the motor sizes, the flywheels and the gears inside, making sure it is suitable for local hard wood. And now we are bringing our most featured products to Canada. With years of testing experience, we know what our kinetic log splitters can do and we can help you with any issues.
